Please keep this sheet for your information

The purpose of the Ngati Manu Registration Form is to establish and build the Ngati Manu database. By registering as a member of Ngati Manu you:

>> Connect with your marae and hapu and all the exciting developments happening here
>> Receive our updates and hear what your Ngati Manu whanau are up to
>> Can be involved in shaping Ngati Manu future and direction
>> Participate in strengthening Ngati Manu
>> Will receive information as Ngati Manu scholarships become available
>> Can participate in voting

Simply complete the registration form attached (please let us know if your contact details change at any time). We do not have an online registration set up yet but we will let everyone know as soon as this is possible.

Registration Form

Information is requested for the Ngati Manu Register as used by Te Tahuhunui o Ngati Manu (Post Settlement Governance Entity).
The criterion for membership is Whakapapa.

For whangai who do not whakapapa to Ngati Manu the wider whanau are to make a decision regarding eligibility to be registered as whanau (voting rights) or as an auxiliary member (no voting rights).

Information provided
The information you provide:
>> Is administered by the Claims Working Party Group
>> Is confidential
>> Will be used to establish a register of Ngati Manu members and beneficiaries

Registrations are validated by kaumatua representatives from within 13 identified Tupuna lines. A registration form may be deferred to a wider kaumatua validation committee for further advice.

The Register
The register will be used as a basis for voting:
>> On Iwi issues
>> On Land Claims issues
>> On Fisheries issues
>> Election of Trust Trustees
>> Changes to the Trust Deed Register of Beneficiaries

Voting Age
All members are such from birth however, the age for voting is 18 years and over. Persons 18 years and over should complete a separate form

Trustee Roles – Ideal Person Specification

• Committed to the Ngāti Manu Vision
• Committed to Ngāti Manutanga meaning everything that constitutes to the identity of a Ngāti Manu person whanau and hapū.
• A knowledge of Te Reo
• A knowledge of Tikanga
• He kanohi kitea, a face seen, meaning a person who supports Ngāti Manu Kappa and is known by the people.
• Committed and prepared to represent their Tupuna/ Whanau in Ngāti Manu business.
• Prepared to consult with and report back to their whanau on a regular basis.
• Adheres to Ngāti Manu Ethical Charter
• Able to work as a team member and who is willing to learn new ideas and Maori philosophies within Maori / Ngāti Manu Paradigm.
• Able to participate in collective decision making that respects te tapu me te mana o ngā tāngata katoa including staff
• Accountability to the Whanau/Hapū
• A Knowledge of Financial Literacy i.e. able to read financial reports and able to understand budgets and variances/spreadsheets
• Sound understanding of Governance Practice
• Time and commitment to contribute beyond Board Meetings
• Able to set Strategic direction and Plans for Ngāti Manu.
• Has Critical Thinking and Analytical skills
• Has Understanding of the Business being Governed
• Sound Business acumen and judgement
• Strong communication skills
• Accountability to the Whanau/Hapu
• All Trustees will undergo an Annual Performance Review Process conducted by Te Roopu Rautaki o Ngāti Manu
• All Trustees will undergo Trustee training on Honourable Ngāti Manu Motuhake Governance, and Maori philosophies within Maoridom / Ngāti Manu Worldview, by Te Roopu Rautaki o Ngāti Manu.
• Minimum requirement of 75 % attendance to meetings.
• Be prepared to sign a full Police disclosure form.
• Trustee term of office to be 3 years, with a right of re-election
